AIG Holds Legal Conference – Including a Pro Bono Panel – In Connecticut

On September 20, 2007, American International Group, Inc. (AIG) held its first global legal compliance and regulatory conference in Greenwich, Connecticut under the leadership of Anastasia Kelly, the company’s new Executive Vice President, General Counsel, and Senior Regulatory and Compliance Officer.  The conference included a thought-provoking and well-attended plenary panel on pro bono service.

The panel, which attracted a large audience of almost 300 people, included as speakers Stasia Kelly, PBI President Esther Lardent, Betsy Cavendish, Executive Director, Appleseed Foundation, Steve Banks, Attorney-in-Chief, Legal Aid Society, and Vincent Serpico, AIG’s Information Privacy attorney and head of AIG’s pro bono effort. The informative discussion included topics such as AIG’s commitment to pro bono, pro bono opportunities at the speakers’ respective organizations, and how to leverage the strengths of those organizations in partnership with AIG attorneys to create fulfilling pro bono engagements.  The discussion also encompassed a summary of the AIG pro bono program, past accomplishments, and future directions.
